Greenhalgh’s Craft Bakery, founded in 1957, has a rich history steeped in tradition and commitment to excellence. From humble beginnings, the bakery has grown to become one of the largest employers in the Bolton area. The Early Years

Initially, the bakery was sold to Allan Smart after Mecca took over the Palais Company in 1957. Subsequently, he renamed his new venture “Greenhalgh’s Model Bakery.” As a result, the bakery quickly outgrew the small premises in Julia Street, Horwich. Consequently, in 1971, the bakery relocated to the old Beehive Mill site in Lostock, where it remains today.
