65+ Years of Bakery Craft & Innovation

Greenhalgh’s Craft Bakery, founded in 1957, has a rich history steeped in tradition and commitment to excellence. From humble beginnings to becoming one of the largest employers in the Bolton area, Greenhalgh’s has consistently delivered high-quality bakery products to its loyal customers. Let’s delve into the story behind this beloved family bakery.

The Early Years

When Mecca took over the Palais Company in 1957, the bakery was sold to Allan Smart, who was its manager. Allan renamed his new venture “Greenhalgh’s Model Bakery.” The bakery quickly outgrew its small premises in Julia Street, Horwich, and in 1971, it relocated to the old Beehive Mill site in Lostock, where it remains today.

Craftsmanship and Tradition

At Greenhalgh’s, baking is more than a process—it’s an art form. Craftsmanship defines our approach. We follow our hearts and never cut corners. Our ingredients are carefully chosen, and we adhere to artisan traditions when creating our recipes. Every product reflects the passion and attention to detail that has transcended through generations. Our commitment to maintaining traditional family values and baking techniques sets us apart.
