For a number of years, I have been unable to bake bread with fresh yeast, since it is no longer available from supermarkets or other local shops,.I was therefore pleased to discover Greenhalghs in an internet search and to find that I could buy fresh yeast from them and they would ship it to me.
The yeast arrived in a timely fashion and was well packed with a disposable/recycleable ice pack and a thermal envelope so it arrived in a fresh and still relatively chilled state.
I have baked my first batch of loaves of bread using this yeast and it performed very well. Plus, there is that definitively better yeasty flavour to the finished bread.
A whole Kilogram of yeast is a lot for an amateur like me but fortunately, one can freeze yeast, which is what I will be doing but I will definitely be going back to Greenhalghs when this first kilo has been used up.
Overall, a great shopping experience which I can recommend to anyone else thinking of getting that genuine fresh yeast flavout for their bread products with the more predicatble behaviour of fresh yeast thrown in as an added bonus.

I am a home baker that struggles to find fresh yeast in my local area in South Yorkshire. So if I am buying it in this large quantity (for me) I need fresh yeast to be just that fresh. It needs to stay active while I can use it and then freeze it. I was perhaps surprisingly pleased that it took a couple of days to come while they “got it ready” as I hoped this meant it would be very fresh. Mine was a good active block that I could used in amounts as recipes suggested and get a good result. I kept half in the fridge and froze half, and the fridge stored part was still as active after a couple of weeks. Recommend this supplier.
