GREENHALGH’S COAST TO COAST

The Great Greenhalgh’s Relay Team Spirit Macmillan Cancer Support

WE RAISED £6503.00

There is nothing like a team outing to lift morale and encourage team spirit. Participation in a team is a great way to bond. Greenhalgh’s invited staff to volunteer and swap the workplace for a walk through the hills for a day on a ‘Coast to Coast’ challenge across the North of England from 8th – 16th July 2019, to raise much needed funds through sponsorship for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that is close to everyone’s hearts.

The route stretches through some of England’s most picturesque villages, lakes, mountains and moors, from St Bee’s Head in the West of Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in Whitby on Yorkshire’s East coast.

On each day a minibus set off from Greenhalgh’s Head Office at 6.00am, and arrived at the different starting points to commence each leg of our walk. We were then picked up at the end of our walk and arrived back at the bakery in the early evening.

The difficulty on each route varies, from moderate to very tough and mountainous, along 200 miles of footpaths through three National Parks.

Greenhalgh’s wanted to give a warm welcome to as many employees as possible who wanted to join together to raise funds. It was a wonderful and worthwhile event. Every step helped make a difference. It was an amazing experience and one which we will never forget.

Not only was it an exciting opportunity to take on a personal challenge of our own, it was a chance to walk side by side with fellow workers to show our support for Macmillan Cancer and the incredible work they do to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support.

Greenhalgh’s would like to thank all staff, friends and family who participated in walking the Coast to Coast route.
