Greenhalgh’s supports MEN IN SHEDS Charity

28th September 2017

At the Company’s Special 60th Celebration evening on Thursday 28th September 2017, surrounded by industry peers and Greenhalgh’s management, David Smart Managing Director (pictured) of Greenhalgh’s was delighted to be able to present a cheque to the value of £5000 to Suzanne Hilton. Chief Executive of Age UK Bolton.

Men in Sheds is a project started by Age UK and has expanded greatly over the last few years. The ‘Sheds’ are units where men can meet to undertake a variety of activities such as woodworking, metalworking, art and computers - almost like a youth club for the over 50’s!

What they all get from the 'Sheds' is camaraderie and a place to go. Some are using skills they’ve used all their lives, at work and at play. Some have never picked up a saw, power tool nor operated a lathe.

It’s a chance to learn new skills - or just pop along for a brew and a chat! Men find it far easier to chat with other men whilst doing something, than they do in more formal surroundings.

‘Sheds’ have an important place in the local community by undertaking work for other charitable organisations, council groups and churches and even the elderly residents in the community.
