THE ROLE

Our quality produce and our employees are the key to our success and our Hygiene Operatives are a vital part of that success as our hygiene standards are of the utmost importance.

You will work as a part of the team to achieve good standard of cleanliness throughout the Bakery Production areas on a daily basis, ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with the Company procedures to meet Food Safety and Health & Safety standards. Good spoken and written communication skills are necessary to understand and follow instructions, and previous experience in a cleaning role is required. Your daily duties will include, but not limited to handling chemicals, cleaning different areas of the Bakery, using cleaning equipment and machinery, manual handling, lifting and carrying. This is a physically demanding role and certain jobs will also require heavy lifting.

It is a fast paced but friendly production environment and you will receive training in various aspects of your role.

Contracts are based on approximately 40 hour working weeks, however we do not operate a specific finish time. Most bakery operative roles are “job and finish” which means that you will finish’ at different times depending on production requirements. As production levels may vary at busy seasonal times and shifts can be up to 10-12+ hours, employees are asked to be flexible with their working hours.

Please note that all operative positions are offered on temporary contracts initially, however, colleagues who work hard, fit in, learn fast and are reliable are likely to secure a permanent position with the Company.

HOURS OF WORK & BENEFITS

Working 5 days a week between Monday and Saturday (inclusive) – 1 weekend day and 1 weekday off. Start time is 6am (with some flexibility to start at 6.30am if necessary) and the average shift lasts approximately 8½ hours, however as workloads may vary on a daily basis, we ask for some flexibility in working hours, especially at busy periods and during team shortages. Operatives have a 30 minute unpaid lunch break plus up to two additional 10 minute paid breaks during each shift.

Holidays: 28 days per annum, including bank holidays.

Salary: £8.21 per hour

Job Type: Full-time, temporary on joining leading to permanent contracts for the right people

THE PERSON

Good spoken and written communication skills are required and you must be able to understand and follow instructions. All positions involve manual handling, lifting and carrying. All roles are standing jobs. Although some experience is preferable, full on-the-job training will be provided.
