Fleet / Retail Drivers

THE ROLE

Your main duties will include (but not be limited to) driving one of our 3.5 tonne vehicles, loading products on to the vehicle, and delivering goods to our wholesale customers and retail shops.

Ideally you will be able to identify potential new customers, as well as up selling to and looking after our existing fleet customer accounts. You will be trained to operate a hand-held computer and in cash handling. You will also be delivering our goods to some of our retail outlets in busy high-street locations.

Our drivers are one of the public faces of our business for many customers so it is important to make a good impression, to help maintain good customer relations as well as teamwork with our retail outlets by being helpful and assisting in resolving any issues which might arise, and also to drive courteously in our liveried fleet vehicles.

HOURS OF WORK & BENEFITS

You will be required to work 6 mornings a week Monday – Saturday inclusive. It will be early morning starts (approximately 3am) and typically finishes at around lunchtime on a daily basis (approximately 40 hours per week). Some flexibility in working patterns may be required at key times or during team shortages.

Holidays: 28 days per annum, including bank holidays.

Job Type: Full-time, permanent on satisfactory completion of probationary period

Salary: Our Fleet / Retail Drivers commence on the National Minimum Wage for their age band

THE PERSON

You will have excellent driving skills, a pro-active approach, as well as great communication and customer service skills. You will be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative in a fast paced environment. You should be well presented. Previous delivery driving experience is a must.

N.B. If you are a driver under age 25 it is a condition of our vehicle insurance that you must accept responsibility of the insurance excess, should it be required for insurance claims.

You must hold a full clean driving licence and be entitled to work in the UK. You should also be able to cope with the demands of this sometimes physical role which includes lifting and carrying.
