Greenhalgh’s breaks the World Record
30th April 2012Greenhalgh’s Craft Bakery assisted a very worthwhile charity in promoting the wealth of events and activities that were taking place at RSPB reserves across the country at Easter time. The RSPB unveiled the world’s largest Hot Cross Bun. The bun was baked at our Head Office bakery in Bolton, and transported to the Saltholme Wildlife reserve in Teeside. Measuring a massive 8ft in diameter and weighing a whopping 169kg the equivalent of around 2,300 regular Hot Cross Bun’s, it has now been verified as a Guinness World Record, beating the “currant” record holder, SASKO Bakeries in South Africa. The bun was baked in a custom-made tin that is due to be re-used as a bird bath at the RSPB’s sanctuary, a fitting tribute to the generosity of local supplier Ventheat Engineering of Bury whose principals Geoff and Stuart Hill were delighted to offer their time and materials for free to assist this charitable venture. Stuart Hartlebury, Greenhalgh’s Bread Room Manager, who oversaw all of the event from start to finish, felt very proud and pleased at the achievement and the big effort put in by everyone who was involved at Greenhalgh’s and Ventheat.
Award Winning Bakery You Can Trust
29th April 2012We are very pleased to confirm that Greenhalgh’s has recently re-affirmed its Grade A BRC Status during the April 2012 audit, testimony once again to the Company’s commitment to deliver exceptional dedication to food safety in all aspects of food production, including storage, employee facilities and product development. The BRC Grade ‘A’ status has been maintained at both sites in 2012 despite a significant increase in the difficulty of achieving the audit standards this year.
