Great Manchester 10K Run – 10th May 2015

Cash for Kids 2015

For the fourth consecutive year, an intrepid team of Greenhalgh’s staff, colleagues, suppliers and friends took on the Great Manchester 10K Run with its BBC televised course taking in national landmarks such as the shrine at Old Trafford, the Imperial War Museum and the first line underneath the Hilton Hotel just off Deansgate.

Also for the fourth consecutive year, we teamed up with our good friends from Key 103 Radio (one of the sponsors) to raise money for the umbrella charity Cash For Kids. Thankfully the weather on Sunday 10th May 2015 was not as hot as the previous year (which had seen a record number of casualties succumb to dehydration, heatstroke and other ailments) and all of our 24 runners returned in one piece. They had also been promised a drink afterwards in the local pub!

Many thanks must go to all of the bakery and shop staff who really get behind this event in terms of sponsoring the runners – it is an enjoyable day with a cracking atmosphere in Manchester City Centre. There is still room available for more runners in 2016 (Sunday May 22nd) and anybody interested should contact Ray Lyons or Julie Thew at the main office. If you intend to run, make sure you are not on holiday at the time!

It was a tough challenge to beat the 2014 total of £3,513, but thanks to the wonderful GCB employees and their colleagues, families, etc, we raised a record sum of £5,562 for Cash For Kids. Well done everybody who was in any way connected with Greenhalgh’s biggest charity event of the year – we have already set our sights on a new record for 2016!!
