Greenhalgh’s named Craft Bakery of the Year at the Baking Industry Awards
Greenhalgh’s Craft Bakery has again won the coveted Craft Bakery Award at this year’s Baking Industry Awards. The event, which is sponsored by industry publication British Baker, is in its 19th year. The awards ceremony took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 18th September 2006. The panel of judges, three ‘industry giants’ – John Hale and Colin Lomax of Rank Hovis, and David Tomlinson, retired technical director of Warburtons and a BCA (British Confectioner's Association) member with over 40 years experience, visited Greenhalgh’s bakery in August and were treated to a sumptuous display of bread, confectionery and seasonal products. In addition, they had the opportunity to visit Greenhalgh’s new shop which has just opened in Oldham. The shop carries Greenhalgh’s new corporate branding as well as some innovative features in its layout, which the company plans to incorporate into its other shops. The Baking Industry Awards, organised by William Reed Publishing, are a major focus for the industry and celebrate excellence in areas such as Customer Focus, In-store Bakery, Celebration Cake Manufacture, Marketing and Healthy Bakery, in addition to the prestigious Craft Bakery Award.
